Lauren Williams
Since qualifying as a physiotherapist in 2012, Lauren has gained substantial experience in many areas of healthcare. She has extensive local experience as a clinical specialist, in managing musculoskeletal conditions in both adults and children. She has worked closely with orthopaedic consultants in fracture and post-op clinics and has varied experience in managing patients referred from consultant-led disciplines including rheumatology, neurology and oncology.
As a junior physiotherapist, Lauren completed her rotations and has experienced all areas of physiotherapy including stroke medicine, ITU & surgery, trauma & orthopaedics, amputee rehabilitation, acute medicine, care of the elderly and mental health.
Lauren achieved a Master’s degree, with distinction, in 2017 which has enabled her to join the Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (MACP). This is a membership organisation of only 1,200 physiotherapists who achieve and maintain a recognised standard of excellence in musculoskeletal physiotherapy.
Lauren went onto develop a specialist interest in Women’s Health and is a qualified Mummy MOT practitioner. This is a specialist post-natal assessment designed to screen for common post-partum conditions such as vaginal prolapse, diastasis rectus abdominus (DRA) and sexual dysfunction. Among other things, these issues can cause instability or poor core strength leading to women developing pelvic or back pain, bladder, bowel and sexual dysfunction. Lauren firmly believes there is not enough help and support out there for new mums with regard to a safe return to exercise, and she is intent on changing this.
As a physiotherapist, learning never stops. Lauren gained a diploma qualification in Injection Therapy with the Society of Musculoskeletal Medicine. She can provide steroid injections and can offer hyaluronic acid injections for our clients if clinically necessary.
Lauren is focused on providing our local population with the best possible advice about managing their MSK condition. She will do her best to understand how the problem impacts your life, working with you to make the decisions about your care. She has always been dedicated to helping patients fully understand their condition, empowering them and ultimately improving the quality of life for everyone she sees.
